Syncing iPhone without iTunes

A typical alternative iPhone manager ( click to enlarge )

Even though iTunes is a wonderful application with amazing features (I personally love to listen to online radios with iTunes), some of us don't want to install iTunes or just can't, for example at work where Administrator rights are required

Luckily for us, several Free Alternative iPhone Managers are available out there, some good some less good
Some are "portable", which means they don't require any installation and, hence, can be used without Administrator privileges

Among their most wanted features are:

  • Add Music to iPhone without iTunes
  • Manage iPhone playlists without iTunes
  • Delete songs from iPhone without iTunes
  • Etc...

The author's choice is this one

It's amazingly light and fast. It downloads and opens in a blink. You are ready to Manage your iPhone Songs and Playlists within a few seconds as opposed to iTunes that takes ages to download and install

It's reliable: it didn't messed up any of the iPod, iPhone & iPad we used for the tests, including the latest iPhone 4 and iPad, which is where all other Free Alternative iPhone Management softwares failed

Its interface is intuitive and easy to understand
It's richly featured with playlists creation and renaming
The built-in player is minimal, but does what it's meant to

Finally, the program is portable ( = does not need to be installed ), so you can use it on your work Computer or even run it from a USB Flash drive and you are sure it won't mess up your Computer

Best of all, it's Free !

The article refers to iPhone and also to use without admin rights but it seems drivers must be installed to work with iPhones which require admin rights so not portable?

    • iPhone Expert says:

      Dear Tony,

You are absolutely right, you need iPhone drivers on the computer to be able to use any iPhone manager.
Though, you don’t need admin priviledges to install these drivers. This is how

      • Matt says:

Having problems finding the iphone drivers on the microsoft update website mentioned above. The only way (it seems) to install these drivers is by extracting and installing them separately, which requires admin privileges. Please help.

  3. Anthony says:

My computer crashed, but my friend will be able to fix it for me in a few weeks. the problem is I want to add some music to my iPhone 4 without losing my current music. Is there a way to do that? Thanks in advance for any advice.

    • iPhone Expert says:

      Dear Anthony,

The solution introduced on the current page allows you to add music to your iPhone 4 and even 4S without iTunes

  4. Ace says:

Great job! love the software! Only used it once though. If I move the music files to another location changing its pathway, will that remove the songs from the iphone 4 the next time I sync? This is what happens when I use iTunes which is the reason why l searched for an alternative software.

    • iPhone Expert says:

      Dear Ace,

It won’t remove your songs from your iPhone, because this program, as opposed to iTunes, is just an iPhone Manager, not a Media Center, which means it does not sync your iPhone with anything on your computer, it just accesses what is on your iPhone to manage it

We can’t do this on a Mac?? Where can I put music on my iphone 4s for my mac?

  6. Nick says:

Trying to place some music on my grandsons iPhone 4S from my laptop with Win8. Will this software work for that?

  7. Kyle Myers says:

Actually I’m choosing between your software and istick by softorino
